Our Legacy of Travel
Northeastern University’s competitive Model UN, Arab League, and NATO teams have sent students across the country and the world. In our recent history as a competitive travel team, NU has sent small delegations or full delegations to competitions in five U.S. States –Arkansas, California, Massachusetts, Michigan, and South Carolina– and Washington D.C. We also have a history of international engagement, including delegations to conferences and cultural exchanges in 5 countries –Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, and Switzerland. Our greatest legacy in travel at Northeastern University was the establishment of the Dialogue of Civilizations programs. We are proud to be the source of vision and planning for the first Dialogues, to Cairo, Egypt, and the promotion of the diversification of the Dialogue program with the addition of the Beijing Dialogue.
The IRC’s Legacy of traveling competitive delegations has represented the mission and values of Northeastern University throughout the country and abroad. We are honored to have carried the Banner of Northeastern’s commitment to experiential education through participation, competition, and success at various former and continuing travel opportunities. Currently, Northeastern’s IRC travels students to the International Model NATO, the Southeast Regional Model Arab League, and the National Model Arab League. In addition to these programs, described below, NU competes locally in the Northeast Regional Model Arab League and the Boston Area Model United Nations.
