- Agenda setting
- Only relevant to travel delegates
- If we want to teach agenda setting lets teach it. Students don’t know how to do it, but we “stumble” into it and waste debate time.
- We should train chairs, can give them 4 options and they can practice ordering the topics instead of creating them.
- All we need to know is how to order topics
- BOD class participation:
- Need BOD involvement and assistance especially when so many new members. UNSC did not work because plan was to partner board with new people, but half board didn’t show up.
- Brain drain – both MUN and NATO is too long, should be merged or eliminate one. People do co-op, it’s just too much.
- UNSC simulation was not successful because it explicitly told members that veterans would lead debate. Veterans shouldn’t be approving people’s comments; the newer members should speak their minds without running it through the veterans.
- Vets need to sit near delegates to encourage them and offer advice, and they need to move somewhere else during un-moderated caucuses.
- If an E-Board member is absent, they must find a board member to replace them during meeting. → this is specifically for extenuating circumstances..
- BarMUN
- It was not an enjoyable experience, the secretariat was poorly trained in parliamentary procedure.
- This sentiment is shared, and BarMUN will definitely be part of larger conference planning discussion for next academic year.
- If we lose BarMUN its the only MUN conference we have and should discuss a replacement conference.
- BarMUN should not be solely for veterans, it is most valuable for newcomers. Crisis is fun – the topics are exciting. It is a low-stress learning environment. We should sell it to newcomers so people want to do it.
- Keep in mind the things you want to see in a conference and collect these ideas for future discussion.
- Special Interest SGA senator:
- Striking words from clause dealing with AVPs
- Non-student groups can? Come to SGA if no student group will sponsor them
- Amendment regarding stipends..
- The College Dean is leaving and we have had a 3-year great relationship. We need to submit suggestions that he can sign off on before last day.
- Programing/travel funding
- Dialogue funding
- Political Science Department doing 3-4 searches
- Start of review deadline Oct 15. One is Oct 30. Dept. chair wants candidates interviewed by Christmas.
- Because we’re losing dean, we’re beyond committed to this process.
- Suggestion: draft list of things we’re looking for when talking to prospective candidates.
- Spring situation:
- Only two weekends for BMAL: the week after SERMAL or week before NUMAL.

- Discuss future of BMAL by 2014
- Behavior measures with selection
- November meeting needs to be scheduled
- December will be extended meeting to talk about conferences
- Retention plan:
- 45 min between MUN and NATO. Create an opportunity for the board to go talk to new people and club members.
- An additional $100 will go toward food/Halloween.
