- Topic Guides/Plan For Next Class:
- MUN: EVP is working with veteran member to do the topic guide, and will send it to E-Board by Friday 10/12
- Everyone can add comments and initial
- NATO: Continuing Ocean Shield simulation
- NATO Tryouts: EVP would like everyone to triple check the accessibility of the topic guides.
- In-class simulation: formulate specific policies etc.
- Out-class simulation: demonstrate ability to research on the fly.
- EVP is proposing that the topic guide be very limited.
- Meetings that are scheduled for next week, e.g. NERMAL delegation meeting will happen as planned, but JCC will be rescheduled as BOD meeting will take place
- AVP:
- Discussion of E-Board members that are looking for possible AVP’s
- Perhaps we can engage the BOD more and then it will not be necessary for AVPs?
- VP Events is open to helping or being tasked with more responsibilities.
- Everything that happened this weekend:
- A lot of decisions happened that concern VP Events: the number of travelers has increased from 20 to 24.
- New committee: NATO Arctic Affairs? NATO African Affairs?
- 6 committees, 22 in-committee delegates
- Advocates that perhaps it be a returning committee?
- NERMAL Attendance: 5 country assignments
- 7 committees; 2 delegates; 14 X 5 = 70
- Had an additional 20 students left over that had no assignments
- Discussion of the budget and whether it has been adjusted to reflect change in numbers of attendance?
- VP Events: 22 countries, across 8 committees minus NU NERMAL attendees.
- Should have a process for NERMAL attendee confirmation; initiate a basic confirmation process.
- Have been seeing 50-60 students in MUN; 30-35 in NATO. Case and point: had 70 at MUN last week.
- VP Events: 22 countries, across 8 committees minus NU NERMAL attendees.
- Committee’s are being finalized tonight, topics are set, has working document regarding how JCC works.
- Former student/alumna will be attending NERMAL to help Professor
- Converse needs some help arranging transportation; VP Events will take care of it
- Needs to plan a time to meet to get JCC planning off the ground
- A lot of decisions happened that concern VP Events: the number of travelers has increased from 20 to 24.
- NATO Conference FEE:
- NATO: Need to get a check cut for it, and send it out.
- Will check deadline, and if it is not on a close deadline then will have VP Finance do it.
- Purchase Order:
- Ready for President, but need to pick it up.
- Coffee Machine:
- VP Finance is working on it.
- EVP would like to have it as a way to keep MUN members after class and speak with others during that time between the classes.
- Suggestion: could use rubric to give suggestions etc., and observe students in-class
- Selection Process:
- Was there anything that was missed? Any concerns regarding selection?
- Some clarification was needed with some confused students; should have older members approach new members to try out.
- Should have club members approach people by suggesting students to try out.
- General sense: there are the people that are traveling that are ready to; those that are not ready to lead but ready to be delegate; and those that should tryout to gain experience but are not ready to travel
- Was there anything that was missed? Any concerns regarding selection?
- NERMAL HD Situation:
- Under control, everything is being worked out actively by the E-Board.
- BarMUN:
- Not sure why we attend this conference; it is no longer needed.
- Will discuss the possibility of eliminating it as a conference.
- E-Board During Debate:
- E-Board must interact with delegates during Un-moderated Caucuses
- E-Board must either represent a country or sit near delegates and offer encouragement/advice to random countries. Prefer they relocate in room after each Un-moderated caucus
- If E-Board must do work OR be absent, need to find a replacement for themselves within the BOD.
- Did Applications for SERMAL, NUMAL head delegate go out?
- Would like to speed up process as thinking about having a mini tryout
- Would like to know who the HDs are before NERMAL
- March and April BOD Meetings
- Would like to have the decisions about which conferences will be attending the following year (Need to add another MUN conference?)
- March maybe not the best time to discuss because of NUMAL and SERMAL
- April not necessarily good because of finals etc.
- Realistically NATO, SERMAL and NUMAL are all written in the constitution – cannot remove
- Decisions of the schedule need to be decided all in one meeting
- Reason for BOD Meeting on Tuesday night: Would like them to fundamentally change the way things have been going, and then identify specific subjects that need to be addressed and then hold a special meeting.
November: Identify a different day for a special meeting.
