Co-leader, Northern Ireland Dialogue of Civilizations
Joani LaMachia is a Faculty Co-op Coordinator in the International Affairs Program. Joani teaches the Professional Development for Co-Op Course for International Affairs students. She is a primary co-op advisor for International Affairs students and, in so doing, engages students in thoughtful preparation for work opportunities that align with their interests and academic studies. Her area of passion and interest is preparing students to engage actively in the world as global citizens by drawing upon their academic and co-op experiences while here at Northeastern.
Joani LaMachia has taught as a Graduate Lecturer at Northeastern University, teaching graduate-level courses in Education and Global Studies in the College of Professional Studies. In addition, Ms. LaMachia is a Faculty Co-Leader for Northeastern University's Dialogue of Civilizations Program in Northern Ireland through the Office of International Studies Program. Ms. LaMachia has over twenty five years experience working within international affairs, mainly developing and implementing multi-cultural and literacy education programs. She has been awarded fellowships in China, Australia, and Northern Ireland and received a Massachusetts Department of Education Award for her Commitment and Dedication to Literacy Education. Her publications include Ideas in Action - Participatory Health and Literacy Education with Adults and articles for Currents in Literacy at Lesley University.
