Icon Application (Software) DistributionDescription

The Software Available for Download service provides three mechanisms or sub-services that make software available to Faculty, Staff, and Students to install locally. Licensing restrictions and technology influence which mechanism is used and where the software can be installed. For information regarding which software is available through each service please refer here.

  • Software Pick-up: Due to size, technology or licensing, some software can only be distributed by CD or DVD. Currently the software is availabe at the Service Desk in the InfoCommons by request only. The customer will be notified when software is available for pickup. For further information regarding the pick-up guidelines. This service is available to Faculty and Staff.
  • Electronic Distribution: The customer will receive an e-mail with the necessary installation codes and instructions along with a link that will require the use of their myNEU credentials to download the software. This service is available to Faculty and Staff.
  • Software Download (myNEU): This service is available through the “Self-Service ” tab on the myNEU Portal for Students and through the “Services and Links” tab on the myNEU Portal for Faculty and Staff. Software is available for home use.
  • Direct from Vendor: Information Services has partnered directly with certain vendors to allow access to software directly from the vendor. This ensures the customer will have fully patched, updated software at all times. Currently, this option of software distribution is available for Matlab.
Functionality/Benefits
Installing software locally allows the Northeastern laptop (mobile) user use of the software without being connected to NUnet. The software available through the Software Download is for home use which allows installation on a personally owned computer.

  • Software Pick-up: This service is available during normal University business hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday. To obtain assistance with this service, please contact the Service Desk at 617-373-4357 (HELP).

Support is provided by Information Services during normal University business hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday. To obtain assistance with this service, please contact the Service Desk at 617-373-4357 (HELP).

Currently, there is no charge for this service.
Request for Service

  • Software Download (myNEU): Software available for download is available through the myNEU Portal based on customer access.
  • Direct from Vendor: For the Matlab software, aculty and staff can create an account directly with Mathworks using their NU e-mail as your valid e-mail address by going here. After creating a user account, associate the Mathworks account with NU’s TAH license # 294223. When access is updated the user will be able to download the latest software and installation codes.
