Departmental Network Share Storage

Icon Collaboration ServicesDescription
The Departmental Network Share Storage service provides centralized network file storage that enables storage of information in a common, reliable, highly available, network-accessible location and sharing of information among members of a college, department or group. For each networked file share, authenticated access is made possible for specified groups of users from any computer on campus. Through the use of Windows security, the owner of a file share can choose the level of access each user is allowed to have to the contents of the share.
Functionality/Benefits
Academic and Administrative units, as well as research groups and committees, can request file shares with full delegated control over the administration of the share. Storage allocation is calculated across each SVP area or College and a base allocation is provided at no additional charge to each area/College. The network file shares are backed up regularly.
