Classroom Technology Support

The IS Service Desk, located in the InfoCommons in 184 Snell Library, provides media equipment and technical support for both classroom instructional activities and University-related functions and events. See Hours and Locations.

The staff also provides media equipment operation training and selection advice. If you are using any equipment on the Boston main campus for the first time, we recommend attending an orientation session at the start of a term.

Media Training

Learn to use classroom media and computer equipment in the quiet of our Digital Media Services office. In 02 Ell, the customer service staff have recreated the standard classroom equipment configuration, so faculty can find out how to use the projector, DVD player, VHS player and connect a laptop computer before entering a classroom. See the Digital Media Services (Presentation Support) page for details.

Classroom and Event Media Support FAQ

Where do I find help with classroom technology?
Information Services provides and maintains audio/visual (AV) equipment at Northeastern University’s main Boston campus. We can provide equipment for both classroom use and special events, offer technical assistance as needed, and conduct training sessions in the use of A/V equipment.

Contact us via the help line (x4357) or by coming directly to our office in the InfoCommons. See Hours and Locations.

Dialing x4357 will connect you to the HELP line’s main menu. For difficulties with audio/visual equipment in a classroom, press 1. For other media service requests or information, follow the menu instructions.

How can I schedule equipment for use in a classroom?
You can schedule an equipment reservation online by going to myHelp and submitting a request for service. See myHelp Support to learn more about submitting a request for service.

Equipment loans — including digital cameras, videocams, LCD projectors, microphones, laptops, etc. — are available on a first-come, first-served basis and will be scheduled only after your service request is completed and verified.

The demand for equipment increases at the start of every term. Please request equipment at least 2 business days in advance. Plan ahead!

How can I schedule equipment/classrooms for special events?
We recommend that you speak with one of our helpful staff members to make sure that you can get the equipment you need. Call x4357 for assistance.

Please note: IS only provides the audiovisual equipment for special events. Booking the room or facility, arranging for catering, and other duties must all be handled by the event coordinator
