Through multiple media venues, both Apple Computer and Verizon Wireless heralded the long anticipated arrival of the iPhone 4 on Verizon Wireless’ network. On February 10, 2011, the Verizon Wireless iPhone became available.
Many people adopted the iPhone from AT&T Wireless for their own use and have enjoyed the functionality, but were limited to the AT&T network. As many have experienced, cell phone service varies from town to town; Verizon Wireless’ network is pervasive throughout Eastern Massachusetts. If you choose to purchase a Verizon Wireless iPhone, please consider the following realities:
- New Phone Required – Current AT&T iPhone 4 users who want to port to Verizon Wireless will need to purchase a new iPhone with Verizon Wireless
- New Case required – If porting from AT&T, you will need to order a new case. The buttons for volume, mute and antenna have been redesigned on the Verizon Wireless model. All other Apple accessories are interchangeable between the Verizon Wireless and AT&T iPhone
- 3G only – The Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 works on the 3G network, not LTE (or 4G) and will not multi-task (talk and data at the same time)
- Limited International Service – The Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 is a CDMA not a global device (International services are limited)
More information on the Verizon Wireless iPhone can be found on Verizon’s iPhone FAQ page.
