Welcome to Spring Semester 2011

Information Technology Services (ITS) welcomes the NEU community to the New Year and the start of spring semester. For returning faculty, students and staff, there are new services and products, and for new members of the community, this is an excellent time to get started with technology at the University.

  • Blackboard upgrade – new course management functionality

  • Windows 7 upgrade – Computers using the Microsoft Windows operating system on IS machines (InfoCommons I and II, 015 Behrakis, and 054 Dodge), on all E-Bar, Kiosk, and Quick Print computers, and in all classrooms with installed computers have been upgraded to the current Windows 7 operating system.   • Microsoft Office 2010 for WIndows computers: All Windows-based IS computers now have Office 2010 installed. Office 2010 will come standard with the Windows 7 NUnet image on Dell PCs, and in addition, Office 2010 will run on your existing Windows XP computer. More information can be found in the November newsletter article on Office 2010 or on the Office 2010 product page.

  • Microsoft Office 2011 for Macintosh computers: IS Macintosh computers in the InfoCommons Lab now have Office 2011 for the Mac installed.

  • iPhone and iPad secure remote access via virtual private network (VPN) to NEU resources.
