Northeastern University will be upgrading its learning management system to Blackboard Learn, version 9.1. This past summer, faculty and students engaged in a pilot of Blackboard 9 in order to provide their feedback on the functions, features, and user interface.
Scheduled for the start of Spring semester in January 2011, the upgrade provides many new features along with an updated user interface:
- New Blogs and Journals
- Updated Grade Center
- Improved integration with rich media content
- Improved structure
- Collaboration through a new Wiki tool
- New Mobility tool for the Android, Blackberry, iPhone/iPod, and iPad
In order for students, faculty and staff to preview the new version, Northeastern University will provide a preview server in September through the myNEU portal. See our Blackboard 9 Preview page which will provide project information including the preview, a test plan, training schedule, and documentation on the new version.
