If you are using a computer in an ITS managed lab or a faculty/staff member with a NUnet imaged PC, there is a new place to look for software available for local download - Software Center.
While many software applications are already installed on NUnet imaged PC, sometimes licensing and other factors make it necessary to provide software through a method where the customer installs it. Software Center replaces “Run Advertised Programs” as the new destination for locateing software that is available for local download (on a NUnet imaged PC). Software Center is an updated, user-friendly interface which allows ITS to distribute sofware much more efficiently.
To access available software: Click on the START button – Microsoft Systems Center 2012 – Software Center
Then choose from the available software, located under the Available Software tab. Select the check box(es) of the application(s) you want & click the Install button on the bottom right to start installing the selected software.
You will then see the selected program downloading and installing under the Installation Status tab.
Once installed successfully, the application will show Installed under the Status section. The application will then be available via the START Menu, just like any other locally installed software.
