Building upon the success of the first phase of the Digital Media Commons (DMC) initiative on the second floor of Snell Library during Summer I/II the Digital Media Commons will be expanded, resulting in major transformation of the first and second floors. Northeastern’s CIO Rehan Khan and all of the Information Technology Services staff is very excited about the project, as it includes enhancements which will introduce a new 3D printing facility, upgrade the existing audio/video studios, and will create a new faculty commons support center. Unified services offered in collaboration with the Snell Library, Information Technology Services, and the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research will deliver high-level pedagogical services for faculty, including media creation and integration, as well as content, technology, and project management assistance.
Stay tuned for updates on the project and what the new areas will look like this fall.
As a result of the construction, services provided by Information Technology Services, including the Help Desk, InfoCommons, and printing/scanning, have been temporarily relocated – predominately within the library itself.
Four computer labs locations (three PC, one Mac) are now open for the summer terms within Snell Library. Each computer lab offers two quick print stations, printing and scanning. Printing is available 24/7 at the Quick Print station outside of 90SL (in the basement), and within the Digital Media Commons on the second floor. Both the Help Desk and computer labs will run on a summer schedule. Additional information and construction updates can be found here.
IS training classes will be offered in 54 Dodge. For details on the available classes please visit the Training page.
