Abstract: The Lipschitz geometry of complex varieties has been visited often since it was first addressed by Pham and Teissier in a 1969 preprint in the 1-dimensional case. However it is only relatively recently, starting with a 2008 paper of Birbrair and Fernandes, that it became clear how rich this geometry is in higher dimensions. The talk will mainly address complex dimension 2, which is now well understood, using ingredients from 3-manifold topology. (Joint work with Lev Birbrair and Anne Pichon.)
