Abstract:   I will illustrate the philosophy of motivic algebraic topology by addressing some of the (motivic version of) standard issues in algebraic topology : computation of homotopy groups, Thom's work on cobordism. Optimistically this should lead, as in classical topology, to a "complete" understanding of smooth varieties in terms of purely motivic homotopical data.
