Mark Sherman is the founder and CEO of ZoomAtlas Corp., a geo-social web site which enables individuals to reconnect with friends, family and places from their past by posting notes at important locations like former homes and neighborhoods. In his 25 years of technology experience, Sherman has designed pre-press publishing equipment, high-speed imaging systems, and trading systems for financial firms.
In 1996, he co-founded Microsurf, Inc., a comprehensive network of consumer Web sites focused on relocation and other home services. While at Microsurf, he developed two highly profitable Web sites, MortgageQuotes.com and MoverQuotes.com. In 2000 he sold these sites to TMP Worldwide/Monster.com for $50 million. Sherman also managed a private hedge fund and continues to trade derivatives today.
Sherman is actively involved in the educational community, currently serving on the board of directors and as a mentor for the Northeastern IDEA Student Entrepreneurial Program. Sherman participated as a panelist at the Harvard Business School 2009 Entrepreneurship Conference and presented at WebInno. Sherman earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics and Statistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and an M.B.A. from Northeastern University Graduate School of Business Administration, High Technology Program.
