Are you a seasoned cyclist – or ever wanted to give spinning a shot? Well now’s your chance – The Handle Bar, Boston’s newest indoor spin studio, opened last month to a roaring welcome.
Located just steps off the Red Line in the Hub’s trendy South Boston neighborhood, The Handle Bar is the perfect spot for all athletes – whether it’s satisfying a spinning crave or trying it out for the first time. Housed in a brand new, LEED-certified building on street level, the facility features top-of-the-line equipment – including Schwinn bikes, shoe rentals, and cubbies for personal items.
But this studio didn’t just emerge overnight. Jessica Bashelor, founder of The Handle Bar, has been working on this concept for over a year now after realizing that Boston needs a hip indoor spin studio – like the one’s she frequented in New York City.
Jessica, a Northeastern ’10 graduate, came up with the idea while working for an activewear startup. While traveling to the Big Apple often, Jessica saw the cycling movement starting to flood the athletic scene.
“And I said to myself, Boston could use a spinning studio and I think I can do it.”
Jessica’s vision has finally turned into reality. After months of planning her business, including speaking with industry professionals and organizing marketing efforts, her studio is officially open for business.
“Everyone’s excited. It’s new. We all share a passion for fitness. And we all want to make this awesome.”
The Handle Bar enlisted Boston’s best spinning instructors for each class, paired with heart-pumping music to push each athlete to the finish line.
“I’m confident that once somebody tries it, there’re going to be hooked,” says Jessica. “If they like to spin or even if they’ve never spun before, it’s going to be an intoxicating environment.
So this summer, be sure to check out The Handle Bar. Schedules, pricing, and more information about the studio’s team and facility can be found at www.handlebarcycling.com.
