Entrepreneurial Events in May

Finals week has officially come to a close. The weather is improving, flowers are in bloom and Northeastern students may finally have more time to work on entrepreneurial endeavors!

The IDEA management team has been informed of some great MassChallenge events that are going on in the Boston area throughout this month. Event: P^3: Peer to Peer Pitching

Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Date: May 5th

Location: Cambridge Innovation Center, One Broadway 5th floor, Cambridge

Description: Come out and hone your pitching skills! Receive training on the necessary components of a pitch, practice pitching to your peers and receive feedback to improve your pitch. This event will have endorsement tickets available for discounts/points and is open to entrepreneurs ONLY.

Event: Founder Dating

Description: Finding the right co-founder is a tricky thing. It is a partnership that is as important as marriage. MassChallenge will help you find your startup soulmate!

Based on the information you provide, we will match you with a number of potential candidates. You may hit it off, you may not, but the important thing is to put yourself out there.

Event: How to Build a Startup from the Heart

Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Date: May 20th

Location: Microsoft NERD Center, One Memorial Dr.

Description: Bill Warner, founder of Avid Technology, Inc. and Wildfire Communications, Inc., FutureBoston, Inc, and Warner Research, LLC, will talk about his experience and theory on what makes a startup succeed. Much of the advice that entrepreneurs get regards how to “follow their head.” How to make logical decisions about their business. This month’s Innovation Breakfast talk will look at tools for the other part of the startup equation: how to follow your heart. Bill Warner will discuss his theories about where the energy comes from within founders, and how to use that energy to make a startup most successful.

Event: How to Incorporate by Foley Hoag

Description: Lawyers from Foley Hoag will talk about what startup entrepreneurs need to think about when deciding to incorporate and how to go out doing it.
