On Monday, May 2nd, IDEA kicked off the summer with our annual Pitch-a-Thon event, an exhibition of Northeastern’s most investment-ready ventures. Each of the nine ventures who pitched had six minutes each to present how their businesses solve important problems with innovative solutions and how they are positioned to own the market.
After all the ventures pitches were complete, a cocktail reception followed where ventures networked with potential investors and enjoyed Boston’s skyline from the top of East Village.
Laura Merelic, COO of Mealtime shares her first time experience at Pitch-a-Thon as a venture who pitched that night. “The most exciting part was seeing ventures from such a wide variety of industries. It’s not at every pitch event you can learn about a new kind of anti-depressant and the latest photo sharing app. Additionally all of our mentors from Venture Mentor Network were there, which was super encouraging.â€

Bob Lentz, one of our Entrepreneurs in Residence, is proud of his favorite annual event. He voiced his praise: “I was so pleased how effective each venture was in telling the key elements of their venture in five minutes. That’s not easy to do! This event also highlighted the diversity and strength of ventures coming out of Northeastern. It is extremely rewarding to see the strong turnout from the investor community and their interest in the ventures being developed by the NU community.â€
