IDEA Gap Funding is a non-equity educational grant available to ventures in the GO stage of IDEA’s process. Applicants may apply on a bi-monthly basis where their business plans are reviewed by IDEA’s student Investment Committee upon being selected to pitch plans to IDEA’s Advisory Board. Applicants may receive up to $10,000 in funding.

In the midst of finals preparation and holiday excitement, four ventures pitched their business plans to the Advisory Board where three were selected to receive Gap Funding. Congratulations to Knightly, Blurr, and Reveu.me the December 2015 Gap Fund receipients. With Gap Funding, the ventures will now expand their businesses and we cannot wait to see what is in store for them in the new year!

Knightly

Knightly is a safety network that keeps college students safe wherever and whenever at the touch of a button. The physical safety device and the mobile application work in unison together by giving students direct access to campus safety services, and the ability for campus police to find your location. With Gap Funding, Knightly plans to begin manufacturing the physical safety device and conduct a beta pilot with Northeastern University in the new year.

Blurr

Blurr aims to create an application that combines the excitement of real-time photo sharing with the security of permanently saving photos. The application ensures users the opportunity to view, save and share every visual media entity taken around them. Blurr aims to revolutionize the way we share memories by innovating the photo-sharing market and transforming consumer behavior. Gap Funding will allow Blurr to go-to-market with their new application, and begin marketing campaigns to gain users and spread the excitement of revolutionizing how we share photos.

REVEU.ME

With a mission to enable creatives to receive professional feedback and career guidance anytime, anywhere, REVEU.ME is the platform for photographers at any skill level. The online platform provides photographers with the ability to receive feedback from industry experts around the globe in order to help artists move their passion forward. With a goal to empower the creative community by gaining knowledge from those who’ve been successful, Gap Funding will provide REVEU.ME the funds to conduct a user referral program on their recently lanunched website.

We wish each venture success in the new year and cannot wait to see their business plans in action! If you are an IDEA venture interested in Gap Funding, speak with your coach for more information on the application process. The next round of Gap Funding Applications are due January 15th.
