Rationale:

The purpose of this seminar is to acquaint students to their new home, and provide them with affordable ways to enjoy living in Boston. This seminar should also focus on safety in an urban environment.

Description:

This seminar should include: a holistic introduction to Boston - including a brief history of the city, an introduction to the public transportation system, and the many neighborhoods of which the city is comprised. Students should learn how to get around safely, and will be provided with a plethora of economical ideas of things to do and see. This seminar will focus on empowering students to explore the city that will be their home for the next several years.

Learning Outcomes:

• Students attending this seminar will express an increased confidence in navigating the public transportation system.
• Students will identify a number of affordable things to do in Boston.
• Students will demonstrate being safe in an urban environment.
