The purpose of this session is to provide information about developing a healthy lifestyle, while living on campus and in the future.
Description:
This session should include: an in-depth discussion of how to maintain a healthy lifestyle while living on a college campus. Students will learn about the benefits of physical and mental health, and will learn ways to improve their current state. Students will also obtain tips about healthy eating, whether it is in the dining hall or in their own apartments. The presenters should also provide ways of measuring success, while emphasizing realistic goals. Finally, students will learn what resources are available at Northeastern to assist them in their quest toward developing a healthy lifestyle.
Specific topics of discussion:
- How to count calories in a daily diet.
- Understanding the nutrition label on food packaging.
- Utilizing cardiovascular and strength exercise into a weekly schedule.
- Common college dietary pitfalls
Learning Outcomes:
- Students will have an increased knowledge of how to maintain a healthy lifestyle while living in a residential community.
- Students will be able to formulate an individualized plan to increase their own health.
- Students will be able to identify resources on Northeastern’s campus that are available to assist with their physical and mental wellbeing.
