Collaborative Research Clusters
Call for Collaborative Research Clusters
2011 – 2012 Academic Year
Dear Colleagues:
The Northeastern University Humanities Center seeks applications for ‘collaborative research clusters’ (formerly ‘working groups’) for the 2011 - 2012 academic year. The intent of the clusters is to bring together scholars and practitioners from different disciplines, both within and beyond the university community, around a common issue of humanistic import. They are meant to facilitate productive discussions and collaborations amongst the participants, with a view toward the development of joint projects, conferences, publications, and major grant applications.
For the 2011-2012 academic year, a maximum of ten clusters will be funded for up to $ 1000 each. Continuation of funding beyond the first year may be possible, but will be contingent upon timely submission of a year-end report that convincingly documents the research outcomes of the cluster as a whole as well as the impact of those activities on the research progress of its individual members.
If you are interested in proposing a collaborative research cluster, please submit a one-page proposal describing the research theme and potential activities of the cluster (including a proposed budget), along with the names of at least eight committed faculty members, graduate students, and/or community members to the Northeastern Humanities Center website by September 7, 2011. Please note that faculty and graduate students should be from more than one department, and that every cluster should include at least one faculty member and at least one graduate student.
