Dear CSSH Tenured and Tenure-Track Faculty:
The Dean’s Office of the College of Social Sciences and Humanities is pleased to have received many inquiries regarding upcoming humanities and social sciences fellowship opportunities for full-time faculty.
We would like to clarify some details regarding upcoming external award opportunities and to provide staff support in this process.
Since major external fellowship programs in the humanities and social sciences may not always provide compensation for a faculty members’ full salary, the Dean’s Office is delighted to announce that if a Northeastern University CSSH faculty member is awarded a fellowship from one of the major humanities and social sciences fellowship programs, then the Dean’s Office will make up the difference in salary. This policy will apply to upcoming fellowships such as the NEH Fellowship (May 1, 2013 deadline), the ACLS Fellowship (typically due in October), Guggenheim Fellows (September 19, 2013 deadline), and Radcliffe Fellows (October 1, 2013) programs.
In order to be eligible for this salary matching policy, applicants for all fellowships must contact Erika Koss, Assistant Dean for Research and Program Development (email@example.com), at least 30 days prior to submission (with the exception of the upcoming NEH May 1 submission deadline) to let her know that you will be applying. Assistant Dean Koss is also available to work with you on your application.
Please also note that for the upcoming NEH May 1 deadline, faculty members must individually register and submit applications through Grants.gov. As this process may take up to a week, you are encouraged to register as soon as possible if you do not already possess an individual account.
If you have questions about any of these or other humanities or social sciences grants or fellowships, please write or call Erika and she will be glad to assist you.
