Getting Started

Below is important information about actions you will need to take early on in your employment at Northeastern.

I-9 Form

All new faculty and staff must complete the I-9 Form, validating their ability to work in the United States, within their first three days of employment.  Your offer letter identifies the person responsible for reviewing your I-9 documentation.

Federal Ethnicity, Race & Gender Reporting

Once you are a University employee, federal guidelines require that we ask you to provide information on your ethnicity, race and gender for statistical purposes only. The data collected is confidential. This form will be included in your hiring packet, but you can also access it here, Federal Ethnicity, Race & Gender Reporting Form (pdf).

Northeastern University myNEU

myNEU on the lower left of the main Northeastern website at www.northeastern.edu is the online portal where you can complete important information about yourself.  To create an account, go to help.neu.edu, click on the “Accounts” link, then click on “Obtain a Faculty or Staff myNEU Account.” With your username and password you now have access to myNEU and can update your information.  After logging into myNEU, go to Services & Links and then click on hrConnect.  First, enter your campus mail drop address and campus telephone number.  This is the only way your campus address and telephone number will appear in the online employee directory.   You can enter or update your W-4 form, emergency contact information and beneficiary information.  You can also view all your pay information through hrConnect.  You will need to know your NU ID number to apply for a Husky ID card.  You will see this ID number in the upper left corner when you click on Services & Links in myNeu.

Husky ID card

Northeastern uses the PeopleSoft for storing information on all faculty and staff.  Once you have been entered into the PeopleSoft database and are an employee, you can obtain your Husky ID card.  The card allows you to check out materials from the library, obtain your parking sticker if you will be driving to work, entrance to the Cabot Gymnasium and, if you establish a Husky account, use your Husky ID as a debit card at participating restaurants and stores. To apply for your Husky card, please go to the Customer Service Center located in 120 Hayden Hall.

Parking Sticker

You can apply online from any computer by visiting www.parking.neu.ed There is a 24-hour turnaround until the parking sticker is available to you.  If you experience any difficulty obtaining a parking pass please contact the parking office either by email at parking@finance.neu.edu or by phone at 617-373-2366

MBTA Passes

Passes can be obtained at the Cashier’s Office located in 248 Richards Hall by filling out a payroll deduction form to receive a pretax savings benefit.  You can also purchase your pass during the last five and first three business days of the month.  You will receive the pretax pass approximately five weeks from the time you apply and the payroll deductions are taken in advance.  For example, if you began your employment in mid-October, you would have payroll deductions during November for your December MBTA pass.

Orientation

Your offer letter indicates how to schedule your orientation and the orientation schedule is accessible through the link on the right side of this page.
