Long-Term Care Insurance
The Northeastern Long-Term Care Insurance Program protects your financial resources and provides peace of mind if you or your eligible dependents should need long-term medical care due to illness, injury or the effects of aging. In addition to conventional nursing home coverage, the policy covers services in an assisted-living facility, as well as adult day care or home health care. Long-term care insurance is fully employee paid.
Eligibility: Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff are eligible to apply for long-term care coverage through John Hancock Life Insurance Co. You are guaranteed acceptance into the plan, regardless of your medical history, if you enroll within the first 90 days of employment. After your first 90 days, you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire as part of your application process.
Eligibility: Dependents
Dependents are also eligible to apply for long-term care coverage. Eligible dependents include your spouse or same-sex spousal equivalent. Your spouse or same-sex spousal equivalent will be required to complete a medical questionnaire as part of the application process. In addition to guaranteed acceptance for employees, there are other advantages to enrolling early. The sooner you are enrolled in the program, the lower your premiums will be. Premiums are determined using your age at enrollment. The older you or your qualified dependents are at enrollment, the more money you will pay each month. For your convenience, premiums are paid through payroll deductions.
