All first-year students are guided through the development of an e-Portfolio in Enhancing Honors (HONR 1102). This digital tool is a way to integrate your Honors experience across your years on campus, reflect on the different opportunities of classroom and experiential learning afforded by your time here at Northeastern, and represent yourself and your work in a meaningful way. During Enhancing Honors, students make their first contributions by submitting a written assignment and reflection that pivots on your understanding the larger Boston community. The e-Portfolio will become the basis for tracing your educational arc – tying together your earliest work in honors, your work in your major, advanced research for Honors in the Discipline and your upper-class capstone. The e-Portfolio is also an advising tool – a way for honors staff to effectively understand your academic and experiential trajectory. The latter may include global, civic engagement, research and/or leadership challenges and accomplishments. Finally, by creating and maintaining an e-Portfolio, you will begin to have a better sense of exciting opportunities during critical stages of your undergraduate career.
The artifacts and annotations of your e-Portfolio will be your mementos from your undergraduate voyage – your first NUCore class or the research poster you presented at Honors Evening, the photos from your Dialogue of Civilizations, a shared reflection from your most challenging coop or your aspirational goals for an Alternative Spring Break experience. At the end, you should have a sense of what you have accomplished and in the process how you have grown. The e-Portfolio will be reviewed in its final form as part of your Honors Senior Clearance.
