History Major Requirements
The BS in History requires a total of 46 History credits, the BS Core, one approved statistics course, and an approved minor.

SOCL 2320, PSYC 2320, ECON 2350
NOTE: SOCL 2320 is recommended.
History Seminar (4 credits)
Complete the following (1) course:

Historical Writing (1 credit)
Complete the following (1) one-credit course:

HIST 2302 must be taken with HIST 2301
HIST 2302 fulfills Middler Year Writing Requirement
HIST 2301 fulfills the University’s Experiential Education requirement.

History Cluster
Choose (4) courses above the introductory 1000-level:
Course List: HIST 2202 or above, where at least two courses must be HIST 2303 or above.
Every History major must meet with a History advisor to determine a History cluster by the first semester of the junior year of study. See the Advising section of the Department website for advising contact information.
History Electives
A total of (3) History electives must be taken in the HIST 4303-HIST 4699 range. These courses may count towards the History Cluster.
Capstone or Project (4 credits)
Complete at least (1) of the following courses:
Course List: HIST 4701, 4903, 4904, 4911, or 4912
Pre-1800 Course (4 credits)
At least one of the above courses must concentrate on a period of history before 1800.
Course List: HIST 2210, 2222, 2250, 2252, 2270, 2271, 2272, 2273, 2285, HIST 3310, 3330, 3370, 3375, 3391, 3392, 3393, 3411, 3475
Minor (16 credits)
Complete a minor in a field outside of History, such as Economics, Political Science, or Sociology.
Experiential Education Requirement
HIST 2301 fulfills the University’s Experiential Education requirement.
