Nationally one in three children is obese. Many of Boston’s young children are disproportionately at-risk of and burdened by obesity. Healthy Kids, Healthy Futures (HKHF) aims to prevent childhood obesity where young
children live, learn, and play. To address early childhood obesity and to promote positive health destinies among
Boston’s children, HKHF partners with Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Inc. Head Start and the City of Boston’s Boston Centers for Youth & Families (BCYF) to provide programming, education and training in the neighborhoods of Fenway, Mission Hill, Jamaica Plain, and Lower Roxbury. HKHF began with and is supported by an inter-institutional partnership among Northeastern University, Children’s Hospital Boston and The Boston Red Sox. Through this collaboration, the partners hope to provide a unique contribution to early childhood obesity prevention efforts, both locally and nationally.
