Most General Studies students take five courses, equaling 17 credit hours, each semester. The student’s course load is made up of four classes, each worth 4 credits, and one course worth 1 credit. The 4 credit classes are a combination of GSP required courses, first-year required courses, NU core courses, and major course requirements. The 1 credit course is the seminar taught by the student’s advisor. Students who enter the GSP with AP, IB, or transfer credit, will have their schedules adjusted accordingly.
Students who wish to matriculate into the D’Amore-McKim School of Business or the College of Engineering should consult with their advisors about how GSP courses count in those Colleges.
