In addition to academic and research pursuits, graduate students are encouraged to take advantage of all that our university has to offer. You are encouraged to attend lectures, athletic events, activities outside your academic program, or get involved in student-led organizations.
Graduate Student Government
The Graduate Student Government (GSG) is the official liaison between graduate students and the university’s faculty and administration. It is also the avenue for graduate students to influence change in the educational programs, processes, and administrative management of the university. They have the authority to distribute funds from the Graduate Student Activity Fee to eligible graduate students and eligible graduate student organizations.
The Graduate Student Government holds open monthly meetings. Graduate students are eligible to become GSG Senators and become voting members. Major functions of the GSG are:
- Individual Funding – The GSG will provide funding to graduate students up to $375 per academic year for conference, competition, or other activity expenses, including registration fees, travel, and lodging.
- Student Group Funding – The GSG will provide funding, up to $3,000 per year, to recognized graduate student organizations for programs, events, and activities.
Center for Student Involvement
The Center for Student Involvement encourages and facilitates a broad spectrum of educational and social co-curricular opportunities designed to enhance the experiential learning and holistic development of our students. Through innovative leadership offerings, student organization and fraternity/sorority advisement, and employment opportunities, we empower students to be visionary, ethical, culturally competent, and responsible members of our global community.
