General InformationDegree Offered: PhDPart-time Study Available: Yes Program DescriptionThe PhD degree in Criminology and Public Policy combines a strong theoretical and research orientation with a public policy focus to prepare future academics and researchers to excel in creating new knowledge for the field. The program has been place since 2004 and has more than more than 40 current students. The curriculum consists of 64 semester hours of course work (32 for those entering with a master's degree). Students are required to take a series of six theory and methods core courses, including two year long introductory courses Criminology and Public Policy, and Multivariate Statistics. In addition, students will take Evaluation Research and Advanced Data Analysis and at least four elective courses such as Youth Gangs, White Collar Crime, Juvenile Justice, Psychology of Crime and Victimology. The program currently has enrolled students from more than a half a dozen nations and emphasizes close one-to-one work between faculty and students. « Back to Programs at a Glance |
