“Humanities” is a broad term describing fields of study including, but not limited to, language, literature, history, philosophy, and religion. Northeastern understands the relevance of research in the humanities to advance our mission to resolve cultural challenges. Our research and resource centers on campus rely on external grant funding to continue their work. Two federal agencies in particular provide significant funding: the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts.

On May 19th, the National Humanities Alliance sponsored, in cooperation with the Congressional Humanities Caucus, a briefing on the Humanities, "Addressing National Security & Other Global Challenges Through Cultural Understanding."
