  • Gordon Institute Benefactor Bernie Gordon awarded the Pres­i­den­tial Medal­lion, Northeastern University’s top honor

    April 28, 2015 - Bernard M. Gordon received the Pres­i­den­tial Medal­lion, the university’s top honor and a per­ma­nent rep­re­sen­ta­tion of his ded­i­ca­tion to advancing North­eastern. A pio­neering engi­neer and entre­pre­neur, Gordon is one of Northeastern’s leading bene­fac­tors. Also honored Simon Pitts, the director of Northeastern’s Gordon Insti­tute of Engi­neering Lead­er­ship and pro­fessor of the prac­tice in engi­neering lead­er­ship, and Michael B. Sile­vitch, the Robert D. Black Pro­fessor of Engi­neering and Dis­tin­guished Pro­fessor of Elec­trical and Com­puter Engineering for being awarded The 2015 Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Inno­va­tion in Engi­neering and Tech­nology Edu­ca­tion, which is pre­sented annu­ally by the National Academy of Engi­neering.

  • Grad­uate stu­dent Mike Humphrey, from the Gordon Insti­tute of Engi­neering Lead­er­ship, sets off his team’s bottle rocket

    April 27, 2015 - Mike Humphrey launches his team’s bottle rocket on Cen­ten­nial Common during the final leadership lab of the GEL school year. Teams were tasked to design, construct and launch bottle rockets to see which team would prevail by achieving the highest launch altitude. With only $5 dollars to spend on materials and one hour to complete design and construction, teams focused on the critical requirement to deliver their rocket on time, under budget and to specification.

  • 2015 Gordon Prize Awarded

    April 10, 2015 - On Friday April 10th The National Academy of Engineering visited Northeastern University to present the 2015 Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education to professors Simon Pitts and Michael Silevitch for conceiving the Innovative GEL program. Dr. C.D.Mote, president of the National Academy of Engineering presented the award. Following the award presentation President Aoun and Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership benefactor Bernie Gordon joined the award recipients along with Institute faculty, staff, alumni and current students to celebrate the prestigious honor.
