When Aaron Evans transferred from Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, NY to Lockheed Martin in Chelmsford, MA, he never imagined that he would pursue a second graduate program.
“To be honest, I thought I was done with school,” says Evans.
Then, a Business Development Manager at Lockheed Martin approached him about the Gordon Engineering Leadership Program.
“It seemed like a good opportunity to blend what I learned in business and technology,” says Evans. “My MBA curriculum was great, but at this point in my career, the Gordon Program was much more applicable to the scenarios I come across at Lockheed Martin. Also, I had been out of my undergraduate program for seven years, so the Gordon Program really drew me back to focusing on technology.”
In the end, Evans knew he had made the right decision.
“I liked the structure of the group, and the opportunities for communal learning. There were lots of opportunities to learn from others,” says Evans. “It was more applicable to my position than a standard MS degree because it blended my leadership skillset with technology.”
Evans says his employer also benefited from the experience.
“I brought back a lot of what I learned in the program to people in my office. My Challenge Project has led to other projects and new business opportunities at my company. I also shared what I learned about how other companies operate and lessons from the guest speakers that visited our class.”
