Ed was born in Mountclair New Jersey, and was raised in Bristol, RI.  He attended the University of Rhode Island and was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics in 1980. He continued his education at the University of Rhode Island in the Executive MBA program, and was awarded an MBA in 1991.

Ed is currently employed by Westinghouse International Service Company as a Field Service Engineer, where he troubleshoots and repairs large combustion turbine power generation equipment.

Over a 5 year period Ed traveled extensively and worked at numerous different sites around the world, including 3 years in the Middle East. He returned to the U.S. in 1986 and joined Mack Plastics, a company that was founded in 1973 by Ed Mack Sr. who developed proprietary polymer compounds that found widespread acceptance in the combustion turbine market.  The company enjoyed steady growth as product offerings and technological capabilities grew.

In addition Ed worked at various positions at Tri-Mack Corporation, and was promoted to president of TriMack Corporation in 1990.

Ed was appointed to the Bank of RI Board of Directors in 2002. He is the past Chair of the Bank Technology and Operations Committee and served on the Management Committee and the Directors Loan Committee. Ed is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Plastics Engineers. He also served on several volunteer boards, including the YMCA, and is involved with several other youth sports organizations.  Ed is the Founder of Metacomet Select Lacrosse Club.

Ed married one of Bristol’s finest daughters, Sandra Matrone in 1988.  Sandy is a graduate Georgetown University School of Law and is a corporate law partner who works out of the Providence office of the firm Cameron & Mittleman LLP. They have four children ages 14 to 21.
