On Tuesday, November 15th, our Distinguished Speaker will be Major Michael P. Manning, Secretary of the General Staff, Joint Force Headquarters, Rhode Island National Guard.

Major (Promotable) Mike Manning is a Distinguished Military Graduate of the Providence College class of 1997.  As a seventeen year veteran of the U.S. Army, he has served in a variety of capacities in both the active and reserve components respectively.  Major Manning has led troops in contingency operations in Kosovo and Iraq.  More recently he completed tours of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Caribbean and Central America and Operation Enduring Freedom XX in Afghanistan.  Mike has previously served as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Providence College, State Partnership Program Coordinator and Legislative Liaison for the Rhode Island National Guard.  In 2007, Major Manning was designated by the Providence Business News as a “Forty under 40″ award recipient; Mike was awarded an honorary doctorate from Providence College in 2008.  In 2010, he graduated with distinction from the College of Naval Command and Staff.  He currently serves as Operations Chief for Special Operations Detachment-Global in Coventry RI.  He lives in North Kingstown, RI with his wife Meg and their three children – Michael, Jack and Shannon.
