Northeastern understands that being a good neighbor requires extensive, active involvement in the local community. Northeastern puts its people and resources to work in the community with programs that meet critical needs in the areas of education, justice and public safety, health and recreation, and housing and economic development. To that end, the University has developed more than 150 programs to meet the needs of our city and region, providing services that benefit a range of populations from schoolchildren to the elderly. Many of these initiatives offer students the opportunity to work closely with our urban neighbors while using the knowledge they've gained at Northeastern. For example, engineering students design and build community projects, speech-language pathology students work with local children in reading and comprehension, and law students conduct pre-trial conferences for pending court cases.
