Founded in 1898, Northeastern University is a private American university located in the city of Boston. It is a leader in research which combines academic disciplines and focuses on solutions to world economic and social problems. We are located in an urban setting and we collaborate with the city which surrounds us. Because we believe that it is important for students to connect classroom learning with the real world, we are known for our cooperative education (“co-op”) program, in which students apply their skills in professional settings related to their studies. This co-op program is one of the largest such programs in the world, with more than 2,000 co-op employers in Boston and around the globe.
