Gifts At Work

A Loyal Husky

For Michelle Kender, CPS’02, staying active with her alma mater is a priority, especially as a member of the Husky Cornerstone Club. She makes her annual gift to the Northeastern Fund, and is a regular presence at Beanpot competitions and Husky FanFests before basketball and hockey games.

Despite her hectic schedule and many responsibilities as a science teacher at Chelmsford High School and as a mother of four teenagers, Kender always finds the time.

“When Telefund callers contact me about making my annual gift, I always say: ‘Send me the paperwork, and I will send it right back to you.’ When we attended NU Family Day at Fenway, The Northeastern Fund had a table set up, so I just pulled out my checkbook and made my annual gift right there at the park.”

“I am a very loyal person. I support The Northeastern Fund because I am grateful for the excellent education that I received,” said Kender, a Lowell, MA native. “I also received a generous amount of financial aid, so I just think it’s the right thing to do.”

In addition to supporing The Northeastern Fund, Kender loves to attend Northeastern events with her family.

“Even if we are all home at the same time, we’re all busy doing chores, studying and preparing for the coming day. But at alumni events we spend quality family time together.”
