Northeastern receives historic $60 million gift to name School of Business

Two North­eastern alumni—Richard D’Amore, BA’76, and Alan McKim, MBA’88—have joined forces to make the largest phil­an­thropic invest­ment in the university’s his­tory. As a result of their com­bined $60 mil­lion gift, Northeastern’s Col­lege of Busi­ness Administration will become the D’Amore-McKim School of Busi­ness. It will be the first college or school to be named at Northeastern.

Thanks to a generous gift from Michael Gries, BA’77, and Dr. Deborah Shomberg Gries, PAH’77, Northeastern University has united two campus programs by replacing its aging sports medicine and strength-conditioning facilities with the Michael and Dr. Deborah Gries Center for Sports Medicine and Performance.

Worth magazine has named Northeastern one of "The 10 Most Fiscally Responsible Nonprofit Organizations," showcasing the university's financial health and commitment to programming. Worth recognized Northeastern's landmark fiscal year 2011, when five colleges received gifts of $1 million or more from new donors, and over 2,100 first-time donors joined the pipeline, an increase of more than 17 percent from the previous year.
