Depression

According to the US Dept of Health & Human Services 1999 Report of the Surgeon General, depression leads to impairment of physical, mental and social functioning and often adversely affects the course and treatment of other chronic diseases. Older adults with depression have more doctor visits, use more medications and stay longer in the hospital.
