Jigisha B. Patel

Jigisha Patel joined the Office of the General Counsel in August 2007 after having worked in private practice as an immigration attorney for law firms in Boston, Massachusetts and Phoenix, Arizona.  Jigisha primarily represents the University in a diverse array of matters in immigration and international law, including advising on international students, international programs, international hiring/employment, export control, and sanctions and embargoes. Jigisha also manages the immigration practice and serves on the Social Impact Council at Northeastern with administration, faculty and student representatives.  During law school, she served as a Judicial Intern at the Boston Immigration Court, Executive Office for Immigration Review.  Jigisha also performed pro bono work in the immigration clinics of the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of Boston and the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project.  Jigisha is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, where she served on the AILA National Students and Scholars Committee.  She also served as a Board member for the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston.  Jigisha earned her J.D. from New England Law in 2004, and her B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University.
