First Amendment Center (Vanderbilt University)
The center, which also has a location in Washington D.C., is a forum for the study of each of the five rights protected under the First Amendment. Its site provides updates on First Amendment litigation, legislation and news.

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press
A nonprofit organization that offers extensive information on public access laws. It also serves as a legal resource for journalists.

The National Freedom of Information Coalition
An alliance of state FOI, First Amendment organizations and academic centers. Its mission is to protect the public’s right to an open government. The Web site provides state and federal resources on public access laws.

Public Citizen/Freedom of Information Clearinghouse
Their mantra is to protect the health, safety and democracy of citizens. Its site offers updates on FOI litigation and news in a number of fields, including auto safety, Congress and health research.

Society of Professional Journalists

The Electronic Privacy Information Center
A public interest research organization based in Washington, D.C. EPIC reports on privacy, open government and free speech, among other topics related to civil liberties.

National Security Archive
Located at George Washington University, the Archive is a non-governmental research institute and library. It posts on its site declassified documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.

American Library Association
The Web site is a resource for reports on legislation and policies regulating open records and government secrecy.
