Application Information
FAFSA
The FAFSA is available each year on January 1st for the upcoming school year. The fastest and easiest way to file the FAFSA is online at www.fafsa.gov.
You should indicate Northeastern University, Title IV Institution Code Number 002199, Boston, MA, in the College Release and Certification section.
If you are filing the online FAFSA, you can sign the form electronically by using your federal PIN. Students who have not previously applied for a PIN are able to apply for a PIN within the FAFSA application. You also have an option to print out the “signature page” for the online FAFSA and mail it to the federal processor.

PROFILE
The CSS/PROFILE application is available each year on October 1st for the upcoming academic year at profileonline.collegeboard.com. Students whose natural parents are not married to each other will also be required to complete a Non-Custodial Parent Profile Application. If a student is unable to contact the non-custodial parent, a Non-Custodial PROFILE Waiver Form must be submitted.
You should indicate Northeastern University, CSS code number 3667, as a recipient of your information on the PROFILE registration form. There is a fee for processing this form.
If you need to update the information originally submitted on the PROFILE (for example, you have now filed your taxes) you can print a copy of the report, mark the necessary changes, and mail the report to our office.
Application Tracking
We do not begin downloading student applications until after the priority filing dates. To check to see if we have received your FAFSA or PROFILE log into your myNEU account. Financial Aid information is available under the Self-Service tab.
If you have applied for an Early Action admission decision and are interested in financial aid, you should file the CSS PROFILE, available online at profileonline.collegeboard.com by December 1st. You will receive a tentative financial aid award at the same time as your admissions decision at the end of December. To finalize your financial aid award prior to the May 1st deposit, you will also need to file the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov, available after January 1st.
