As the world leader in cooperative education, Northeastern connects as many as 100 students each co-op cycle with experiential learning opportunities at international organizations around the world. These opportunities offer unique challenges beyond those posed by the domestic co-op experience, so the University carefully selects and prepares candidates.
"International co-op requires an extra level of maturity, self-reliance, and commitment," says Ketty Munaf Rosenfeld, Northeastern's director of international cooperative education. "It's not for everyone."
For those students in good academic stand who wish to pursue an international opportunity, the following information should be considered:
- Contact an international co-op counselor who can work with you to create a plan
- Assess interests, skills, and future goals
- Join an international student group on campus that pertains to your area of interest
- Take classes or brush up on a second or third language
- Register with Husky Career Link to sign up for international co-op workshops and informational sessions.
- Explore additional international opportunities such as study abroad or an internship abroad.
- Obtain a valid passport
