Co-op Support Network

Northeastern’s cooperative education program supports students from the time they arrive on campus through their senior capstone course. Co-op starts with a freshman co-op preparation course, which gets you ready by honing your job search skills, such as résumé-writing and interviewing, and provides you with tips on how to carry yourself in a professional manner.

Prior to your first co-op period, you’ll meet with your co-op coordinator, who will help you sort through the available co-ops in your area of interest so you can apply for those that suit you best. While you are out on co-op, your coordinator will continue to provide support and advice, as needed, and he or she will also work with you to integrate your on-the-job experience into your course work. And Co-op Connections, part of the Office of Residential Life, helps students navigate the logistics of co-op, such as finding a place to live in a new city if your co-op is outside the Boston area. Each time you return to classes from co-op, you’ll participate in seminars, faculty conferences, writing assignments, and formal presentations to help you process what you learned. And you’ll share the knowledge you gained in classroom discussions with your classmates.

This process culminates in the senior capstone course, in which students reflect on how all of their experiential learning activities, including co-op, research, service, and international experience, integrates with their classroom studies
