Premed
Whether you are interested in preparing for medical school or a career in a health care–related field, Northeastern is the best place to start. We’re just blocks from the world’s top hospitals and research facilities, in a region known for cutting-edge biotechnology firms, and our unequaled co-op program allows you to experience them.
While most Northeastern students who are aiming for medical school major in a science or health-related field, others choose a social science or humanities subject while focusing their electives on the sciences. This interdisciplinary approach gives premed-track students the opportunity to experience co-op at its broadest.
Co-op opportunities related to our health care majors include positions on the athletic training staffs of college and professional sports teams; in public health services and health organizations working in the areas of health care policy, research, and statistics; in nursing positions with hospitals and health clinics; and in pharmacy positions with pharmaceutical and biotechnology firms, research laboratories, retail pharmacies, and hospitals.
In the life sciences and related majors in the College of Arts and Sciences, the bulk of the co-op positions are in research settings, either with biotechnology and biomedical companies, university or hospital laboratories, or private bioscience labs.
