Communications

Northeastern is located in the heart of Boston, home to one of the top media markets in the country and a renowned political scene. Our co-op program—the biggest and best in the nation—gives you the chance to sample amazing jobs or prepare for graduate school.

You’ll find numerous entryways into the communications field, utilizing every medium imaginable: print and sign language, graphic design and photography, and multimedia studies, which combines design and photography with animation and music technology.

These mediums offer you a wealth of co-op opportunities: Positions with government communications offices, law firms, newspapers, schools, marketing departments, publishing companies, libraries, museums, event planning agencies, and public relations and advertising agencies, to name a few.

Communications studies and journalism majors can obtain paid and unpaid positions with major radio and TV stations in and outside the Boston area, including major broadcast and cable networks.

In addition, students interested in marketing communications can pursue co-op jobs with national and international companies and organizations, such as Reebok, American Red Cross, and General Electric.
