Among the many ways that Northeastern students can contribute their time and knowledge to the community, the Center of Community Service's Service-Learning Program is unique. The service is part of an integrated curricular experience, such as a course, a co-op or internship, or research project.
The Service-Learning Program helps undergraduates set clear goals both for what service is to be given and what is to be learned in return. Students receive training, supervision, support, and a thorough evaluation of their participation.
As they serve the people in the region, students learn practical skills, build their résumés, and gain a powerful beyond-the-classroom view of life. The educational, social, professional, and spiritual benefits gained are characteristic of a Northeastern education.
