Urban Policy
At Northeastern, you’ll be superbly positioned to engage with the study of urban policy and the social sciences. Our partnerships with Boston’s neighborhoods, civic groups, and political and economic institutions give you outstanding opportunities to explore other cultures and heighten your perspective, positioning you for a career or graduate school.
These partnerships offer you a wide variety of meaningful co-op positions with municipal, state, and federal offices; law firms, courts, and law enforcement organizations; schools, group homes, and mental health clinics and hospitals; and community development agencies.
At least three majors within the social sciences realm also provide connections to other types of co-op experiences: economics to business, banking, and finance; behavioral neuroscience to biotechnology and pharmaceutical research and development; and international affairs to co-ops abroad with organizations devoted to international diplomacy and law.
A relatively new and growing resource for students in this area of study is Northeastern’s School of Social Science, Urban Affairs, and Public Policy, located within the College of Arts and Sciences.
It will create a school-wide Experiential Education, Co-op, and Career Services Center and better integrate academic departments with research centers and institutes, both promising to expand the range of co-op and other experiential learning opportunities for undergraduates in African-American studies, cultural anthropology, economics, history, international affairs, political science, and sociology.
